The young man’s body was found with a severed hand and a pool of blood on the ground in Haryana’s Sonipat district. The body was found hanging from a police barricade near the main stage of protesting farmers. Reports say he was a labourer belonging to the Dalit community and a resident of Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. Farmers at the Singhu border reportedly accused the Nihangs- a ‘warrior’ Sikh group of murdering the young man. Some reports say that the Nihangs allegedly beat the young man to death for desecrating the Sikh holy book.

"Nihangs are behind the incident. They have accepted it. Nihangs have been causing trouble for us from the beginning," said Balbir Singh Rajewal, alleging that the man was lynched to death by Nihang Sikhs.
A man was allegedly murdered by the Nihang Sikhs at the Singhu border outside Delhi on Friday. His body, with a severed wrist, was found hanging from a barricade near the main stage of protesting farmers around 5 am. The incident has already caused a huge outrage among the farmers who were initially not allowing the police to visit. However, officials of the Kundli police station were later allowed to take the body to the nearby civil hospital.

Speaking at the India Today Conclave 2021, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait said farmers will not hold talks with the government if "conditions" are imposed on the talks.

"The government of India said that MSP [minimum selling price for farm produce] was, is and will be there. It should be there on the ground, not merely on paper in Delhi," he added.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU), the outfit led by Rakesh Tikait, is one of the 40 odd farmers' outfits part of the Samyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) - the farmers' union spearheading the ongoing agitation against the central government's three farm laws.

Rajendra Agrawal, BJP MP from Meerut, responded to Tikait's allegations by saying that PM Narendra Modi has spoken about farmers' issues on multiple occasions. Farmers have been taken into confidence by the Modi government over policy decisions since 2014, he added.
