representatives from over 20 civil society organizations from 10 states of India including National Network for Dalit and Human Rights (NCDHR), National Dalit Movement for Justice (NDMJ), Dalit Human Rights Defenders Network (DHRDNet), National Council for Women Leaders (NCWL), Dhanak for Humanity, People’s Union for Civil Liberties
(PUCL), Centre for Law and Policy Research (CLPR) among others agreed to jointly initiate a Network with the goal of preventing crimes committed in the name of honour.
*The complex and dangerous nature of honour violence, especially in India, cannot be understated. With no law on the books and no definite way to determine cases, convictions in cases of honour killings remain woefully low.*
The campaign, titled ‘Network To Combat Against Crimes Committed in the Name of Honour’ is a National network of national and grass-roots organizations/networks working with an anti-caste, anti-patriarchy, feminist and minority protection ethic.
The Network is aimed at bringing legislative, legal and social protections for persons engaged in inter-caste, inter-faith and queer-trans marriages and associations. This work involves:
- Working towards enactment of national and state legislations to prevent honour-based crimes.
- Ensuring that honour-based crimes are recorded[1], shared publicly, and survivors receive justice and protection.
- Raising awareness among the public on honour-based crimes using all forms of media.

https://www.opindia.com/2022/12/analysis-153-love-jihad-cases-covered-opindia-2022/ Force-feeding beef, hiding marriage and Muslim identity to forced conversion to Islam: Analysis of 153 cases of Love Jihad that OpIndia covered in 2022.
Only this year, OpIndia reported as many as 153 daunting incidents of Love Jihad or Grooming Jihad as we like to call it because, evidently, there is no ‘Love’ in these crimes. In fact, there is no denying that it is a form of ‘Jihad’ in which Hindu girls are being trapped by Muslim men who later either forcefully convert them to Islam, push them into terrorism, groom them or murder and rape them. In several of these cases that we have covered, Muslim men have hid their identity from the Hindu woman and coerced them into a relationship. In other cases, it has been seen that the Hindu woman and the Muslim man got into a relationship knowing each other’s religious identity, however, after the marriage, the husband started forcing the wife to convert to Islam. In several of these cases, it was seen that the woman was forced to wear Hijab, eat beef and Hindu idols were broken. In some other cases, the Muslim man had hidden the fact that he was already married and coerced the Hindu woman into marrying him.
India Pitches for Climate Finance Internationally, But Prioritises ‘Development’ at Home
02/01/2023 https://science.thewire.in/politics/government/india-pitches-for-climate-finance-internationally-but-prioritises-development-at-home/
The Narendra Modi years have seen a political, legislative and policy push to weaken existing environmental and social safeguards and prioritise development projects. As reported in The Wire, the regime has seen through ‘easier awarding of wildlife clearances for industrial projects,’ ‘a draft (later withdrawn) National Forest Policy that came under heavy criticism for envisaging a push for forest-based industries, and diluting Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) rules ‘to allow commercial activities in sensitive zones to promote “economic growth”, putting the ecology and vulnerable communities in these areas at risk.’ A recent analysis by the Vidhi Centre for Legal Policy, of regulatory changes introduced during last two years of the pandemic by Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change under the Environmental Protection Act, revealed that 48% of these amendments were in the form of ‘relaxations’ for ‘ease of doing business’ “negatively impacting the clarity, predictability, and stability” of environmental safeguards.
...while India seeks more international capital in green technologies, infrastructure, energy and more as climate finance, and consequently open fresh economic opportunities, it is unlikely to do so at the cost of disturbing existing economic activity to the detriment of big industries here. In fact, as shown above, by dilution of environmental safeguards it is in fact providing a push for maximising unsustainable modes of development and profit making...

Why don't we celebrate New Year on 1st January?
* Neither the season changed.. nor the weather
* Neither the class changed nor the session
* Neither crop changed nor farming
* Neither the color of trees and plants
* Neither the direction of sun moon stars
* Nor the constellation.
Even before January 1 comes, everyone starts wishing for the new year. Believe it is such a big festival.
New doesn't happen only one day..
Some days there must be a new feeling. After all, our country is a country of festivals.
The new year of the AD Samvat is celebrated on January 1 and the Indian New Year (Vikrami Samvat) is celebrated on Chaitra Shukla Pratipada. Let us see the comparative difference between the two:
1. Nature-
There is no difference on January 1, like December, like January.. In the month of Chaitra, flowers bloom all around, new leaves come on the trees. Greenery all around as if nature is celebrating new year.
2. Clothing-
Same clothes, blankets, quilts, chilly hands and feet in December and January.
Winter is going in Chaitra month, summer is about to arrive.
3. New session of schools - December January same class nothing new..
Whereas in March and April the result of schools comes, new class, new session means new year in schools.
4. New financial year-
There is no closing of accounts in December-January.. whereas on 31st March there is audit closing of banks, new accounts are opened. New session of government also starts.
5. Calendar
New calendar comes in January.
A new calendar comes in Chaitra. All Indian festivals, marriages and other auspicious times are observed from there. Hindu society cannot imagine life without it. This calendar means Panchang.
6. New year of the farmers - In December-January, the same crop is grown in the fields.
When the crop is harvested in March-April, new grain comes in the house, then the new year and enthusiasm of the farmers.
7. Method of celebrating the festival-
On the night of 31 December, people drink heavily to welcome the new year, create ruckus, there is a possibility of accidents due to drunken driving at night, incidents like rape, poor police administration and destruction of Indian cultural values.
While the Indian New Year begins with a fast, the first Navratri happens, Mata Rani is worshiped in every house. Pure sattvic atmosphere is created.
8. Historical importance- There is no historical importance of January 1.
Whereas on the day of Chaitra Pratipada, the beginning of Vikrami Samvat by Maharaj Vikramaditya, the birth of Lord Jhulelal, the start of Navratras, the creation of creation by Brahma ji, etc. are related to this day.
Nothing has changed except the date of the English calendar and the people of the English mentality.
Our new era is the new year.
When the direction of sun and moon, season, crop, class, constellation, new leaves of plants, new crop of farmer, new class of student, new blood circulation in human etc. change from universe. which is based on science
Change your mindset and recognize science based Indian time calculation. Think for yourself why should we celebrate the new year on 1st January..?
The Dangers of Financialization Oct 11, 2016 TIME magazine assistant managing editor Rana Foroohar’s book Makers and Takers sounds an important note of warning on the dangers of financialization of the U.S. economy. She reveals that the financial system no longer funds new ideas and projects — only about 15 percent of the money coming out of financial institutions goes into business investment; the rest is spent buying and selling existing financial instruments. That’s why $4 trillion worth of monetary stimulus that followed the 2008 financial meltdown has failed to produce anything more than anemic growth. In this video, she discusses her book, and its implications for the economic policy challenges facing America’s decision-makers, with Institute president Robert Johnson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtIk7WlINPQ

India's economy to double in size to $5 trillion by 2022: PM Modi https://www.business-standard.com/article/economy-policy/india-s-economy-to-double-in-size-to-5-trillion-by-2022-pm-modi-118092000665_1.html 20th Sept 2018
Modi said the Indian economy will grow at over 8% rate with massive employment generation being seen in IT and retail sectors
https://www.globaljurix.com/blog/will-india-become-5-trillion-dollar-economy-in-next-5-years.php To achieve the target, India needs to grow with an average annual growth rate of 10-12% in dollar terms for next five years (as against 6.8% in 2018-19), and raise its aggregate investment rate to around 38% of its GDP every year, as against 31.3% in 2018-19, according to experts, including the Ernst & Young (EY). Again, India's inflation (consumer price index) shall be required to be kept below or around 4% (the target inflation rate according to the Monetary Policy Framework), to ensure commensurate increase in the purchasing power of money. According to the finance ministry, the inflation in India has been kept under check and at around 4.5% in the last five years, and now it is on a declining path to reach 3.4% in 2018-19. Again, to support the target rate of GDP growth, the rupee should not depreciate further against the dollar. As per an PTI report, to achieve the target GDP growth, the exchange rate depreciation must not be higher than 2% per annum...
Evicting the inhabitants is like firing the workers: the restoration of the old unjust order of neoliberalism needs the precarious and uprooted to avoid being hindered in the race of the financialized economy, fueled by real estate and land speculation, feeded by wars, at the expense of people, communities, the climate and the environment.
A financialized economy that is flooding the relaunch of unlimited development policies with flows of money, the same ones encouraged by the New Urban Agenda of Habitat 3, to which we countered the Inhabitants' Solidarity Agenda already in 2016. The vultures of the financialization of the economy are already profiting from the private and public debts that this crisis and the wars are accumulating.
These policies, including the fake "green" ones, are exacerbating authoritarianism, patriarchy, gender discrimination, racism and the criminalization of human rights activists.
