PFLP statement
In an interview with Al Mayadeen TV, regarding the Trump plan and the response of Hamas and the resistance factions, Dr. Maher al-Taher, head of international relations at the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, said:
- We salute our great Palestinian people in the steadfast and proud land of the Gaza Strip, and in the land of Palestine, who have written a glorious page in the history of Palestine, the Arab nation, and the free people of the world.
- We bow in reverence and respect to the martyrs, wounded, and prisoners of our people, who have written an immortal epic that will remain in the memory of generations to come.
- The steadfastness of our people and the miracle of their legendary resilience are the foundation that has moved the world to stop the war of extermination, starvation, and destruction of people and property.
Netanyahu was counting on Hamas and the Palestinian resistance factions rejecting the American plan, which was crystal clear regarding what was required of the Palestinian side: disarming the resistance and handing over Israeli prisoners. However, regarding the commitments required from the Israeli side, the plan is vague and raises dozens of questions. Every clause requires agreement, especially regarding the comprehensive and final ceasefire, the timetable for the withdrawal of occupation forces from the Gaza Strip, the future of the Gaza Strip, and the management of affairs in the Strip. Talk of international forces ignores the Palestinian people and their authorities, who alone have the right to manage their own affairs.
After in-depth and responsible deliberations between the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine and our brothers from Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and the Palestinian factions, a unified position was formulated, surprising Netanyahu, who wanted to continue the killing and massacres, and the response of Hamas and the factions. After in-depth deliberations and consultations, he was responsible and put the ball in the Israeli court. This position is not the result of Trump's threats, but rather stems from the supreme interests of our people, paving the way for an end to the aggression and halting the war of extermination. Al-Taher stressed the need for caution and vigilance, as Netanyahu wants to recover his captives. He will then engage in all forms of deception and obstruction to continue the aggression, and may even seek to transfer his battles to other parties, particularly in Lebanon.
He also emphasized that national issues related to the Palestinian cause and the future of the Gaza Strip can only be addressed through a comprehensive Palestinian national consensus that concerns all Palestinians, in order to preserve Palestinian principles and restore our full rights to return, freedom, and independence. He pointed to the necessity and importance of continuing global pressure on both the Israeli and American sides to implement a comprehensive ceasefire, reconstruction, and the unhindered entry of aid, in order to achieve our people's just goals.
