The CAG has pointed out the following irregularities in
1. Award of highway projects.
2. Bidder selected on the basis of falsified documents.
3. Award of works without approved detailed project reports or based on faulty detailed project reports.
4. No due diligence by the competent authority before approval of projects.
5. Pointing out that there were significant cost overruns, CAG noted that only 75.62% of CCEA approved length has been awarded while 158.24% of approved financial outlay was sanctioned up to March 31, 2023.
6. Sanctioned civil cost being Rs 23.89 crore per kilometre (km) as against the CCEA approved cost of Rs 13.98 crore per km and sanctioned pre-construction cost being Rs 8.28 crore per km as against the CCEA approved cost of ₹ 1.39 crore per km,” the auditor noted.
Modi promised to tackle corruption, but has failed miserably to deliver on those commitments, resulting in continued instances of graft and unethical practices.
Despite initial pledges and public statements, the lack of effective implementation, oversight, and accountability mechanisms has led to a situation where corruption has persisted and even worsened under his leadership. His failure to combat has not only eroded public trust but also hindered the nation's progress and development.
