As AI is being used to usurp job, and shift the ownership of creative and labour work, it is important that standards are set in this regard. Whom should the benefits of creative process abd cumulative skills go. How is that "labour power" being usurped by the owners of the "remote" "digital', "artificial intelligence algorithms. A begining seems to have been made by the Screen Writers Association.
Can this principle also be applied to gig workers, The Left needs to develop theory and Law on this after their 148 day strike!
Summary of the agreement between WGA and AMPTP relating to use of Artificial Intelligence
We have established regulations for the use of artificial intelligence (“AI”) on MBA-covered projects in the following ways:
AI can’t write or rewrite literary material, and AI-generated material will not be considered source material under the MBA, meaning that AI-generated material can’t be used to undermine a writer’s credit or separated rights.
A writer can choose to use AI when performing writing services, if the company consents and provided that the writer follows applicable company policies, but the company can’t require the writer to use AI software (e.g., ChatGPT) when performing writing services.
The Company must disclose to the writer if any materials given to the writer have been generated by AI or incorporate AI-generated material.
The WGA reserves the right to assert that exploitation of writers’ material to train AI is prohibited by MBA or other law.

Four takeaways from the WGA deal to end the writers’ strike https://www.latimes.com/entertainment-arts/business/story/2023-09-26/writers-strike-deal-wga-amptp-takeways-ai-pay-residuals
increases in wages and residuals,
demands for minimum staff in television writers rooms, (TV seasons have gotten shorter and writers rooms have shrunk. That has meant fewer opportunities for writers, who have to cobble together one job after another to make a living)
payments based on the success of streaming shows (The contract establishes a system of providing bonuses to writers based on viewership on streaming services. ) and
protections against the use of artificial intelligence .(The new WGA contract includes language that regulates the studios’ use of AI but also provides flexibility to the guild’s members. Companies must disclose to writers if any material given to a writer has been generated by AI or incorporates AI-generated material, according to the guild’s document.)
This contract—won with the power of member solidarity and our union siblings over a 148-day strike—incorporates meaningful gains and protections for writers in every segment of the membership. Prior to the strike, the companies refused to engage on most issues.
