Walmart Foundation said that, since 2018, through its market access programme it has invested over $39 million in India to reach 500 Farmer Producer Organizations/Farmer Producer Groups targeting 8,00,000 farmers, of which more than half are women..
NGOs like PRADAN, ACCESS, Mercy Corps and Srijan are working with the Walmart Foundation’s Market Access Program to provide on-ground impact.

Email comment by A R Vasavi: This is a matter of concern. Why should Indian NGOs that are supposedly working for farmers' and India's agrarian interests co-opt to become
conduits for international Agri-business. Details of such transactions
should be highlighted. Others should exercise caution.

https://walmart.org/news/2022/walmart-foundation-announces-new-grant-to-pradan-to-support-the-growth-and-development-of-women-led-fpos  PROWFIT, that stands for the 'prowess of organized resources & women-farmers for transforming FPOs into independent institutions', intends to support 60 women-led Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs) over a period of 30 months.

PROWFIT builds off PRADAN’s previous project 'LEAP' (Livelihoods Enhancement through market Access and Women Empowerment). LEAP, a two-year project, was supported by $1.9 million grant from the Walmart Foundation. This project impacted the livelihoods of 45,000 smallholder women farmers across Jharkhand, Odisha and West Bengal. The program focused on creating opportunities for women smallholder farmers (SHFs) to build capabilities to sustainably double their income over a four-year period, with a goal to take them irreversibly above the poverty line by establishing sustainable farm businesses.
